The triangular neighborhood of Adams Point — which is bound by Grand Avenue on the south, Harrison Street on the northwest, and the MacArthur freeway on the northeast — was named after Edson Adams, one of Oakland's early founders who owned this parcel of land that was originally 160 acres of wilderness. Adams Point is now home to landmarks such as the Veteran's Memorial Building, the Earl Warren House, the art deco Bellevue-Staten Building, Lakeside Park, and Children's Fairyland.
 
In the middle of this urban area is Lake Merritt, a large tidal lagoon and the first federally established wildlife refuge in the country. Joggers and walkers charge along the shoreline path of this 155-acre oasis while rowboats, paddle boats and authentic Venetian gondolas glide across the water. At nightfall, the spectacular "Necklace of Lights" illuminates the 3.4-mile perimeter of the lake.
 
Adams Park real estate includes condos, apartments, and Craftsman and Mediterranean-style homes. Residents enjoy trendy restaurants, bars and the historic Grand Lake Theater in the nearby Grand Lake neighborhood. BART has several stops around the Lake Merritt area, and Interstates 80, 980, and 580 are all easily accessible.
