A Cautionary Tale. This month, I welcomed another AFGO -- Another F-king Growth Opportunity.
- On January 21st, I walked downstairs to a flood. Based on the water line, a foot of dirty water sat on the first floor of my home overnight and then drained out. All communal spaces reside on the first floor.
- Last year, on Jan 4th, I walked downstairs to a flood. I had to remediate the mold and rebuild, which cost me tens of thousands of dollars and took over four months. My insurance claim was denied.
- This time, the plumbers discovered 150 pounds of tree roots obstructing the HOA-owned drain serving 62 homes on a hill. I live at the bottom, and there's a catchment in my yard.
- As I write this, a crew is downstairs ripping apart my house for the second time. Half my kitchen is now in the "Gitchin" (a.k.a. garage), and the other half is in my "Bitchin" (a.k.a. bathroom)
- Thankfully, I have a village of organizers, haulers, assistants, cleaners, designers, and contractors who came to help me put Humpty Dumpty together again.
The Moral of the Story? Maintain your drains, and never underestimate the power of a good therapist.
How am I dealing with the stress? Pickleball. Because Pickleball feeds all the good things in life -- fresh air, friends, focus, and exercise. Plus, I get to wear cute skirts.
